1What is circuit design?

Circuit design is carried out before PCB design, mainly involving requirement analysis, functional requirements, performance requirements, etc. The process of designing, simulating, and experimentally verifying circuit principles to ensure that the circuit can meet expected functionality and performance. The focus is on the implementation of functionality, which is more like developing; PCB design is based on the already "developed" circuit diagram, considering what kind of circuit board to make, with a focus on the layout, number of layers, wiring methods of components on the circuit board, how to be more stable, anti-interference, manufacturable, installable, etc.

 

2What kind of PCB design?

PCB design is a three-dimensional layout that marks the position of components and ensures the proper layout and wiring of circuit components according to electrical connections.

 

3What are the advantages of PCB?

(1) Can be high-density

PCB high density can develop with the improvement of integrated circuit integration and installation technology. 

(2) High reliability

Through a series of inspections, tests, and aging tests, the PCB can ensure long-term and reliable operation.

(3) Design feasibility

Various performance requirements for PCBs (electrical, physical, chemical, mechanical, etc.) can be achieved through design standardization, normalization, etc. to achieve printed board design with short time and high efficiency.

(4) Productivity

By adopting modern management, standardized, scaled, automated production can be carried out to ensure product quality consistency.

(5) Testeability

We have established a relatively complete testing method, testing standards, various testing equipment and instruments to detect and identify the qualification and service life of PCB products.

(6) Assemblability

PCB products are convenient for standardized assembly of various components and can also be automated and mass-produced on a large scale. At the same time, PCBs and various component assembly parts can also be assembled to form larger components, systems, and even the entire machine.

(7) Maintainability

 

Due to the standardized design and large-scale production of PCB products and various component assembly parts, these components are also standardized. So, once the system malfunctions, it can be quickly, conveniently, and flexibly replaced to quickly restore system operation.

With the development of science and technology, the application of PCBs is becoming increasingly widespread. PCBs are divided into single panel, double-sided board, and multi-layer board. Common multi-layer boards are generally 4-layer or 6-layer boards, and complex multi-layer boards can reach dozens of layers. They are widely used in consumer electronics, computers, communication tools, medical equipment, and other fields.

In terms of industry distribution, consumer electronics has the highest proportion, reaching 39%; Next is computers, accounting for 22%; Communication accounts for 14%; Industrial control and medical equipment account for 14%; Automotive electronics account for 6%; National defense and aerospace account for 5%, and the precision requirements for PCB are very high in fields such as aerospace and medical instruments. Although the scale of China's PCB industry is currently the largest in the world, its overall technological level still lags behind the world's advanced level. In terms of product structure, multi-layer boards account for the majority of the output value, but most of them are still dominated by mid to low end products with less than 8 layers. Although HDI and flexible boards have a certain scale, there is a gap in technological content compared to advanced foreign products. The IC board with the highest technological content is rarely produced by domestic enterprises.

 

So circuit design comes first, PCB design comes later. PCB design is the layout and wiring based on circuit design, and the two require completely different basic knowledge.
